Fashion designer and interior stylist Evelyn Neis is selling her bold and beautiful Echunga home
Featuring stunning interiors, it’s hard to imagine that 16 West Street, Echunga was once a humble barn, built in 1890.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom property has been transformed into a contemporary home by owner Evelyn Neis, an Adelaide-based fashion designer, interior stylist and renovation expert.
“I moved in four years ago and just fell in love with the space,” Ms Neis said.
The picture-perfect house – the interiors have graced the front cover of Australian Country magazine – has been extensively renovated but it still retains much of its charm.
“I have been working as an interior stylist, and renovating barns into stylish homes is my forte.”
The house has been built on a 1,276sq m allotment and the location goes in its favour as well. It is ideal for buyers looking for peaceful country living yet close enough to access the freeway into Adelaide CBD.
The sprawling house has all-white interiors and accents have been cleverly used throughout. The quintessential barn doors with antlers as door handles definitely amp up the wow factor, while the main living area has a large open combustion fireplace and a wall here with original cladding is reminiscent of the home’s past.
While the house showcases her eclectic style, Ms Neis believes it’s a perfect space for a large family.
“I have six children and there is ample room for everyone,” Ms Neis said.
Boasting large open areas, the light-filled home has polished concrete floors and high ceilings. The wooden beams and doors have been given a reclaimed, vintage look.
“When designing a space, I go with the flow and what comes to my mind at first glance,” Ms Neis said.
Among the other highlights of the property is a heated pool alongside a large pool house.
The bathrooms have also been fully renovated and there’s an office space tucked in as well.
With a large courtyard style outdoor area, the house has enough room for entertaining a large group of guests.
The home is on the market through Ray White Mount Barker’s Johnny Zehle.
“The owner has done an absolutely spectacular job in designing the home – it’s a labour of love indeed,” Mr Zehle said.
