Kraken vs. Stars Game 7 odds, expert picks: Can Seattle pull another upset to advance?

Will the NHL again see its most recent expansion team make a conference final in its second season? Or will Dallas make it back to the Western Conference final for the second time in four seasons? Game 7 between the Seattle Kraken and Dallas Stars is set for 8 p.m. ET Monday.

Pressure somehow flips to the home team in these Game 7 situations. The crowd, the family, the feeling that you can’t lose Game 7 at home. It all adds up, and the pressure mounts. Seattle already survived one Game 7 this year on the road — beating the defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche in the first round in Denver. So what’s different about this Game 7? Not much.

Game 7 – Kraken at Stars

Series tied 3-3

8 p.m. on ESPN, SN

Dallas started poorly in Game 6 in Seattle, getting outshot 15-2 in the first period, and the Kraken imposed their will. Could that happen again Monday? Dallas coach Pete DeBoer yanked Jake Oettinger Saturday night after giving up four goals on 18 shots. It wasn’t a good performance from a goalie that is considered among the NHL’s elite.

I’d still take Oettinger over Philipp Grubauer in a Game 7 situation, but the Kraken seem to have solved a bit of the Oettinger puzzle.

There still hasn’t been a one-goal game in this series since Game 1 and the last four games have been decided by at least three goals.

Roope Hintz continues to be Dallas’ best offensive player with 18 points in 12 games so far in the playoffs. He’s one of the favorites for the Conn Smythe award if Dallas can advance past the Kraken on Monday.

Seattle’s Matty Beniers, a Calder Trophy finalist, has four points (two goals, two assists) in the last four games.
